A Tafona
An amazing high-end restaurant in Santiago, this was our final meal together as a program and probably the best I've had while here. Our director, Michael, reserved the entire restaurant for this event and we each got a prefixed tasting menu. Everyone's selection was a bit different depending on whether we chose the carne (pork), the pescado (fish), or the vegetariano (meatless).

Café O Paris
My favorite café/bar in Santiago with absolutely AMAZING burgers. Very casual but old-school café & bar feel. I only went once but some people in my program went 5 times in a span of two weeks... The winning recommendations are the Mediterranean burger and salmon burger, which are only about 8€, extremely filling, and come with a side of hefty steak fries. Apparently ordering from the menú del día is also a great and economic option, in this case, order the cheesecake for dessert. It was literally a dream melting in my mouth.

Casa Marcelo
Tucked away in the back streets of Santiago, this restaurant-bar is a surprising but delicious fusion of "cocina gallega, japonesa, peruana, mexicana y oriental" -- traditional Galician (Spanish), Japanese, Peruvian, Mexican, and Chinese. I am a huge fan of sushi, sashimi, and all other types of raw fish so this was a dream come true.
